What is Individual Care and Development (ICD)?
Individual Care and Development (ICD) is a holistic approach that integrates spiritual direction, clinical psychology, and life coaching to offer practical guidance for personal growth, promote healing through supportive connection, and strengthen relationship with God. It’s not just therapy, not just coaching, and not just spiritual mentoring—it’s all three, woven into one relationship.
Is ICD therapy?
No. While ICD includes many principles drawn from clinical psychology, it is not licensed therapy. ICD is legally classified as life coaching, though it integrates therapeutic insight and spiritual direction to offer more holistic care. If you are in need of licensed therapy, we can help you connect with professionals through our partner network.
Do I have to be a Christian to participate in ICD?
No. While ICD is rooted in a Christian worldview and often includes spiritual practices, we work with individuals from a range of beliefs, backgrounds, and experiences. Our goal is to meet you where you are and walk with you toward wholeness.
Who is ICD for?
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from ICD. Many people begin because they feel stuck, stretched, or spiritually dry. Others are working through relational wounds, burnout, emotional distress, or faith transitions. ICD is for anyone seeking care that honors their faith, emotions, and real-life needs—all at once.
What can I expect from a typical ICD session?
ICD sessions are relational—not clinical or programmatic. You'll meet regularly one-on-one (or one-on-two) with a trained provider. Sessions may include emotional reflection, spiritual practices, prayer, guided questions, and practical coaching. Each experience is tailored to your needs and season of life.
Is this confidential?
Yes. While ICD is not clinical therapy, we treat your story with the highest degree of privacy and care. Everything shared in an ICD session or group is held in confidence, unless there is a legal or safety concern that requires mandatory reporting.
What’s the difference between a small group and a specialty group?
Small groups are designed for individuals already participating in ICD. They offer a consistent, relational space to process your care journey alongside others. Specialty Groups are created for those who serve or carry unique vocational pressure—like pastors, first responders, teachers, and healthcare workers. These are safe, non-clinical spaces to be supported, not responsible.
What if I don’t see a group for my life situation?
Let us know. Specialty Groups often form around very specific shared experiences. We’ve created or are exploring groups for everything from fathers of teenagers to those navigating leadership fatigue. If the need is there, the group can be too.
How do retreats fit into the care process?
Retreats are a natural extension of ICD. They're designed to help you slow down, breathe, and be re-centered. Each retreat offers space for rest, prayer, solitude, teaching, and relational connection. You don’t need to be spiritually mature to attend—just willing to pause.
How much does ICD cost?
We’ll discuss cost transparently during your Discovery Session. Because ICD is legally coaching, it is not covered by insurance—but we aim to make care accessible. Scholarships and sliding scale options may be available depending on need and provider.
What is a Discovery Session?
A Discovery Session is a free 15-minute conversation with someone from our team. It’s a chance to ask questions, learn more about ICD, and explore whether it’s the right next step for you or someone you care about.e the description goes.
Can ICD support my church, staff, or organization?
Yes. We offer individual care for communities, partnering with churches, schools, nonprofits, and businesses to strengthen the people they serve. If you're a pastor, team lead, or care provider, we’d love to talk about how we can support your mission.
